rtb's approach aims to improve outcomes for children and families.
It is based on:
- A commitment to encouraging the development of preventive and early intervention services, a multi-agency approach, and the pooling of resources.
- Encouraging an analytical approach to assessment using the linked concepts of Need, Outcome and Service, and using a similar approach to conduct analysis of need across local areas.
- Ensuring that local policies and procedures will help support the development of practice that is in line with the aspirations and expectations of the current national agenda, including the Every Child Matters: Change for Children programme.
- Working alongside, learning from, and using the knowledge and expertise of, local families and service providers.
- Encouraging the development of a local evidence base and using that in conjunction with other research evidence.
- Developing local solutions for both the immediate and the longer term. and encouraging commitment to any changes needed.
- Testing innovative approaches, learning from failure, and building on success.
